On Ice catamaran in Australia

Living on a Catamaran in the Great Barrier Reef

Being on the water is one of my favorite places to be, and living on a catamaran in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Australia was the ultimate water experience!

A desire for a short term, inexpensive sailing trip through the islands of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia was realized when I found the Sailing Whitsundays website. Two nights and three days on a catamaran with a captain and a chef and only six other new friends was a dream come true. I slept like a baby as we anchored in the bays and inlets through the fringing reefs and was like a kid in my wetsuit snorkeling for hours each day, spotting the Maori wrasse with giant lips. The coral looked like pointed cream fingers tipped with purple nail polish. Basking on the netting with the wind in our faces, we cruised to Hill Inlet Lookout overlooking the renowned Whitehaven Beach. Spying giant turtles from our glass bottom canoe and practicing my skills on the stand up paddleboards rounded out our adventure. The camaraderie with new friends playing card games each evening to watching the sunrise over coffee and the sunset over a glass of wine was unequaled. I have to do this again. It was just too cool.
