Chile Wine Tasting in the Casablanca Valley
Flying into Santiago, Chile, Rick and I and David and Sallie drove off for the Casablanca Valley. Located in lush, rolling hills, the entire region extends between Santiago beneath the snowcapped Andes Mountains and Valparaiso on the Pacific Coast.
Wineries dotted the hills on our drive. Our first winery stop was Estancia El Cuadro where we sat for an extended tasting of Malbecs of the region. We wandered through their vineyard where they had rows of each type of grape they grew. And you could roam the rows of vines and taste them all. I loved the Gewurtztraminer!
We sampled wine and chocolate at Emiliana, an organic vineyard filled with roaming “free range” chickens. Eating a beef empanada and basil crab ravioli on the terrace at Vina Casas Del Bosque, we relished in this fabulous blue sky day.
